'Home Alone' Stars: Where Are They Now?

Moviefone
November 12, 2015 - 1 min read

"Keep the change, ya filthy animal." Time to feel old, everyone: "Home Alone" turns 25 this year. In honor of that milestone, let's catch up with the cast of one of our favorite holiday movies.

Macaulay Culkin, "Kevin McCallister"

Macaulay Culkin, "Kevin McCallister" Culkin first made a name for himself at age 9, in the John Hughes-scripted "Uncle Buck." That led to his starring role at 10 in the Hughes-penned "Home Alone." For the next four years, he was a child mega-star, with starring roles in such films as "My Girl," "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York," and "The Good Son." At 14, he dropped out of showbiz but returned sporadically in adulthood with acclaimed performances in such indie movies as "Party Monster" and "Saved!" This year, the 35-year-old had a recurring role as himself on "The Jim Gaffigan Show." He's due next in the Kickstarter-funded indie film "Adam Green's Aladdin," along with Alia Shawkat and Natasha Lyonne.

Joe Pesci, "Harry Lime"

Joe Pesci, "Harry Lime" The same year he won an Oscar for playing volatile mobster Tommy DeVito in "Goodfellas," Pesci played a burglar outwitted by an 8-year-old in "Home Alone." Besides reprising the role in 1992's "Home Alone 2," Pesci enjoyed high profile parts in such '90s movies as "JFK," "My Cousin Vinny," the third and fourth "Lethal Weapon" movies, and "Casino." In 1999, he said he was retiring from acting to return to his career in music -- but he managed to squeeze in a cameo for actor-director Robert De Niro's CIA drama "The Good Shepherd." This year, the 72-year-old recorded a voice role in the English-dubbed version of the Russian animated feature "Saava, Heart of the Warrior."

Daniel Stern, "Marv Merchants"

Daniel Stern, "Marv Merchants" At 33, veteran character actor Stern was in the midst of his long-running gig as voiceover narrator of "The Wonder Years" (as the adult version of Fred Savage's character) when he landed his most famous movie role, as dimwitted "Wet Bandit" Marv in "Home Alone." He played his second most famous movie role the following year, as Billy Crystal's mopey pal Phil in "City Slickers." (Stern would play both roles again in sequels.) These days, the 58-year-old can be seen on WGN America's acclaimed drama series "Manhattan."

Catherine O'Hara, "Kate McCallister"

Catherine O'Hara, "Kate McCallister" "SCTV" alumna O'Hara had just played Joe Pesci's disgusted wife in "Betsy's Wedding" when, at 36, she co-starred with him again in "Home Alone." She would reprise the role of Kevin's determined mom in "Home Alone 2." Since then, her most celebrated roles have been those in Christopher Guest's improvisational mockumentaries, including "Waiting for Guffman" and "Best in Show." These days, the 61-year-old is back on TV with frequent collaborator Eugene Levy on TV Land's "Schitt's Creek" (pictured), whose second season is due in early 2016.

John Heard, Peter McCallister

John Heard, Peter McCallister Heard had recently enjoyed prominent ing parts in "Big" and "Beaches" when he was cast as Kevin's flustered father in "Home Alone." Besides reprising the role in the sequel, he went on to appear in "Awakenings," "In the Line of Fire," and on HBO's "The Sopranos." Now 70, Heard most recently appeared in this past spring's mini-series "The Lizzie Borden Chronicles."

Devin Ratray, Buzz McCallister

Devin Ratray, Buzz McCallister At 13, Ratray enjoyed his most famous role as Kevin's bullying older brother Buzz in "Home Alone." After returning in "Home Alone 2," he became a character actor, with occasional TV guest roles on series like "Law & Order" and "Supernatural" (pictured). Watch for him in the Kristen Wiig heist comedy "Masterminds."

Kieran Culkin, "Fuller"

Kieran Culkin, "Fuller" Two years younger than his brother, Kieran was 8 when he played Kevin's bedwetting cousin Fuller. (He reprised the role in the sequel.) Of the seven Culkin siblings, Kieran has enjoyed the most sustained success as an actor, with roles in the "Father of the Bride" movies, "She's All That," "Igby Goes Down," and "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World." This fall, the 33-year-old has had a recurring role as loose-cannon gangster Rye Gerhardt on FX's "Fargo."
